tarmac which runs in parallel with Gam River eastwards for 23km Turn right at Ly Bon, cross the Gam

Day 10 : Yen Minh – Quan Ba – Ha Giang

mountain passes: Yen Minh and Quan Ba. Depart at 08.00 by biking 2 km flat road from the hotel and

then challenging 19km uphill to the top of Yen Minh pass. The road is steep with many sharp bends but

offers a great view of the marvelous valley below. Enjoy a tea break at the top before getting downhill

18km to Can Ty commune and then cycle through the valley along the Nho Que River for 6km. Take

another break for recharging energy before biking uphill 13km to Quan Ba townlet. Paying a visit to Nam

Dam village of the Zao people before lunch break. The afternoon challenge is conquering Quan Ba Pass,

The 8km uphill to the Haven Gate at the top is steep with many sharp bends. Then getting down a steep

mountain 20km to the bottom of the valley. Picked up in the mid-afternoon for a 25km transfer to Ha

road 2 on good tarmac 45km to Tan Quang junction. Transfer up a steep mountain pass 17km to the top

Day 21 : Dien Bien Phu Loop

We explore war history in Dien Bien Phu. Our first stop will be the excellent new war museum, which

offers good insight into the climactic battle in 1954 when the Viet Minh communist revolutionary forces

defeated the French Union forces in Dien Bien Phu, leading to Vietnam gaining its independence from

colonial rule. Other stops on the bikes will include de Castries’ bunker and Glory Statue before we stop

for lunch. We then head out of town and cycle towards Muong Phang Commune to visit the Dien Bien

Phu Campaign Headquarters. Shortly into our ride, the climbing begins, which lasts for about 15 km, but

there is a transfer option. Then, our route takes us among forests and a large reservoir, which provides

water to two hydroelectric projects. We cycle back down to Dien Bien Phu, and you are free to explore

the city. Dinner is on your tonight giving you the chance to venture out and try new food and local drinks!

the bottom we keep riding other 13 km on undulating road to a small town of Muangmai for lunch. After

lunch we start climbing up on some descent and ascent road to the top. We ride downhill for 10 km to the

bottom and easy ride the rest 10 km to our destination of Muangkua.

After breakfast, we board on longtail boat to Nongkiaw, the boat cruise take us along Nam Ou

boat cruise at Nongkiaw and have lunch at local restaurant before we drive the rest to LuangPrabang,

where we stay overnight.

Day 24: LuangPrabang cycling to visit Khungsi waterfall and short city tour

Bears & Waterfalls

The day starts at 9 am from your hotel in Luang Prabang with a drive to Kuang Sii Waterfall. Here we

visit the Free the Bears enclosure and learn about the great work that this organization is doing. There is

time for a swim at the falls before we start our trek into the forest surrounding Kuang Sii.

Trekking

The trek starts through lowland rice paddies before entering a forest area. We cross a small stream and

then start to climb up through the forest. Here we pass through stands of bamboo, areas planted with

teak, and will also see ferns and other small plants along the way. We wind our way up to small trails and

eventually reach the top of the climb and a well-deserved rest in the cool shade of a rubber plantation.

From here we descend into an area of upland farming with crops such as hops and maize. A picnic lunch

will be done during the trek. The small trail gradually widens out into a farm track and we meet up with

the bikes in a small village surrounded by limestone hills.

Time to Bike

From here it's an undulating ride along a dirt road that connects the settlements in this area where we

will see pineapple plantations and an artificial lake. The last section of the ride is a well-earned downhill

section that takes us back to Luang Prabang.

Please note that suitable walking shoes (runners, sneakers) are necessary, as is a hat and sunscreen. We

provide water and snacks.

We cycle about 20km on dirt roads and tracks. It is not too difficult to negotiate the bumps, but some level

of comfort on unsealed/unpaved surfaces is necessary.

Afternoon visit Temples & Markets

We visit Wat Xiengtong, Luang Prabang’s royal temple, and then the fresh market where your guide will

introduce the weird and wonderful produce on sale. Forest fodder, insects, small frogs, and fresh

vegetables are all for sale, it’s something to see.

Day 25: LuangPrabang, free day

Today is free to explore the world heritage town yourself. We recommend getting up early to see

Buddhist daily activity at 6:00 AM to view traditional alms procession of monks passing slowly through

town, and afterwards, visit the local morning market open every morning to see the local products that

people at the country side bring from their villages to sell early morning. It is easy day to visit temple,

former royal palace and other sites in townØ Luangprabang is the oldest city in Laos, and before the 16th century it was the capital city of the

land of million elephants (Laos). The town is a beautifully preserved and in 1995 it was added

to UNESCO`s World heritage list.

Day 26 : LuangPrabang - Muangnan - Kasi

After breakfast, we drive out of town for 25 km to the village where we start riding, we ride on

unpaved road along Mekong River through country side and villages, this road connect to other district

of LuangPrabang province and only local people along Mekong River ride their motorbikes and truck to

LuangPrabang that’s why this road is not busy. We ride without support vehicle today; our support

vehicle will drive straight on main road to Muangnan where we stay overnight. We bring lunch pack from

LuangPrabang and stop for lunch at the hut of local people at the rice fields or under the tree when we

are hungry. Riding today is easy on unpaved road no big climbs, most of the road is undulating; we stop

at the villages and rice fields observing their life style. We some time cross the stream and after midway

there are some short climbs but the road is very quiet, we ride through the farm and rice fields before we

get into the town of Muangnan where we meet our van. We load our bikes into the van and drive to our

destination of Kasi where we stay overnight.

stop for lunch at local restaurant in a small town. after lunch we keep riding the rest 32 km to ourdestination, riding after the town is easy ride on undulating road, we ride through some short climbs

Day 31: Vientiane - Paksan – Thasi

After breakfast, we drive out of town, visit Buddha Park, also known as Xieng Khuan (as well as

other variations of the spelling), is a sculpture park located 25 km southeast from Vientiane, Laos in a

meadow by the Mekong River. Although it is not a temple (Wat), the park may be referred to as Wat

Xieng Khuan, since it contains numerous religious images. The park contains over 200 Hindu and

Buddhist statues. After visit Buddha Park we drive further along Mekong River look at Thailand, we meet

the junction to the main road we start riding on the trail through villages and rice fields for 7 km before

we meet the road again and we keep riding to national park known as Nampien Yorapa,

of the road, we pass only few villages in this part, lunch is prepared by our guide and driver by the road

when you are hungry. After 25 km on climbing up and down hills we climb up for 1 km to the top of 756 m

above sea level, this is the highest point on this road, after short stop the road is slightly down hills and a

little bit short up hills 47 km to our destination of Viengthong district.

Day 33 : Viengthong – Laksao (Khamkerd district)

After breakfast prepare by your guide we cycle from your guesthouse head south to Laksao (kilometer

After 50 km riding through the country side villages, we meet the main road from Vietnamese border; we

Day 34: Laksao – Nakai plateau – Thakhek

After breakfast we cycle from hotel head south through Nakai-Namtern protected area. Today is easy

day, we ride on undulating road, the road is slightly up and down hills, you can stop for photo at the nice

view point on higher elevation and after 35 km we will see small lake of the Namteun hydro power dam.

We stop for lunch at the local restaurant by the lake, after lunch we keep riding on gentle up and down

hill road with beautiful mountains and farms alongside of the road. We reach the small town of Nakai on

top of plateau by the hydro power dam. We stop riding and drive the rest to Thakhek where we stay

overnight.

force based in this town to drop the bombs at Hochimin trail near border, so when we cycle some time,

Day 40 : Huong Khe – Vinh City

In the morning, ride to Dong Loc, the T-junction, which has become unforgettable memorial history in

the country during 1964-1972, when soldiers, young volunteers, cadres, and workers guaranteed safe

transport to the battlefield. Many people from different localities laid down their lives. In particular, the

death of 10 young volunteer girls at Dong Loc T-junction has come to symbolize the patriotism of the era.

Now, Dong Loc T-junction relic has become a commemorative area for the national young volunteer

force. In the afternoon, ride to Vinh City.

Day 41 : Vinh City – Thai Hoa

Today, we have a chance to visit Uncle Ho’s house. Nam Dan district, Kiem Lien village is not only the

homeland of Ho Chi Minh but also the hometown of many anti-colonist leaders. Ride on the new Ho Chi

Minh highway to Kiem Lien village via Tan Ky and Do Luong. Visit Uncle Ho house in the afternoon,

have a short drive to Thai Hoa Town. Overnight in Thai Hoa Hotel.

Day 42 : Thai Hoa – Ngoc Lac

An early morning start to beat the heat of the day. The route takes us away from the river and appears to

contour through the same range of mountains that stretch from Thai Hoa to Cam Thuy on Ho Chi Minh

trails . The road gets more beautiful the closer you ride to Ngoc Lac with looming karst limestone cliffs

and lush vegetation. The route is tarmac all the way, but quite hard riding due to the undulating terrain.

We ride for the first time on the newly built two lane Ho Chi Minh Highway. It hardly warrants two lanes

as there is no traffic! The road makes for smooth fast riding, and for those who prefer there is always the

old highway dirt and gravel – that weaves around the new highway allowing for plenty of exploring

possibilities along the way. Ride to Muc Son, on the banks of River Song Chu. On the outskirts of this

small town are the famous Kan Linh historical relics – a pagoda where the first king of the Ly dynasty, Le

Thai To, ruled, in 1428. Continue riding on the trail to Yen Cat. The distance covered today is quite long

and there will be the chance to transfer some sections by the back-up vehicle to rest weary legs.There are

fewer villages today as the route cuts through forests and jungle lunch en route. Overnight in Cam Thuy

hotel .

Day 43 : Cam Thuy – Mai Chau

Breakfast at the local restaurant and cycling through village house before setting off along a

spectacularly beautiful river valley towards Hoi Xuan along an undulating tarmac road. The road follows

the flow of River Song Ma. This is an old supply route of the HCM Trail that fed the main trail withammunitions during the American War with Vietnam.. just passing scenes of local village life and rice

paddies. . Arrive Mai Chau villages and overnight in the home stay of white Thai ethnic.

Day 44 : Mai Chau – Hanoi

Breakfast and short cycling around the Thai villages and transfer to Da Trang pass the picturesque

Hoa Binh for lunch . Transfer by van to hotel in Hanoi .Say goodbye your team.
